Nylon vs. polyester: what is the difference?

Nylon vs. polyester: what is the difference?
Here at Migala Rug and Tile, we get that question a lot. It’s not an uncommon question. Customers who research carpets want to know. Read on to get the answer.

Nylon

Nylon is a strong fiber, very durable. It is a fiber that is known to retain its shape after installation. Do you have heavy furniture or electronics? Nylon will spring back into place when you move these items out of the room so they won't appear even in the room. In the factory, nylon usually receives a chemical treatment that makes it stain-resistant. It can also be resistant to fading as well. This means that it can go into sunrooms and other daylight rooms without fear of fading. It handles heavy traffic very well, going into hallways, dining rooms, and living rooms. Anywhere you have heavy foot traffic, nylon goes well into it.

Polyester

Polyester fiber comes in bright colors. In contrast to nylon, which is usually a dull matte color, it is inherently stain resistant. However, its durability doesn't match nylon. So it is better for lower traffic rooms, like bedrooms; playrooms or kid's rooms are great for polyester because they can add a unique color. They are also suitable for master bedrooms. In addition, it is a fiber that is made from recycled plastic drinking bottles. So it is cheaper to produce than nylon, which has a higher price point. But this also makes it an eco-friendly choice as well.
